Afternoon Sunshine

IMG_5304

I just happened to look out the back window yesterday afternoon and saw this scene, so I went and grabbed my camera and took this picture. I love the way the sun in lighting up the Red Pygmy Japanese maple as well as the smaller Red Dragon on the left and the Bloodgood on the right. The fountain drops add an extra element of delight to me. The Native Bleeding Heart can be seen blooming on the middle left under the Leucothoe, which is just about to start to bloom. This is a shot of the heart of the Sanctuary and these maples are really growing fast now. I’m so excited by all of this… Wow… πŸ™‚

Happy Spring!

Steve

    • Thank you Jane. I wasn’t sure I could capture the drops of light from the fountain but it turned out well. Things are definitely growing again now and it’s getting very full and lush as you note. It’s a beautiful time of year…

  5. Beautiful Steve! I love how you captured the fountain…..the water looks like crystals of a chandelier. A little jewelery for the garden! πŸ™‚ The Red Pygmy is gorgeous! I’m forever watching the sunlight in the garden, too. The garden changes so much during the day…..morning is my favorite here, with the cool shadows falling across the garden. Lovely picture, thanks for sharing it.

    • I love your image of a chandelier for the fountain Annie. It does seem like jewelry doesn’t it? I really love the different times of day too. The way the sun and shadows play with each other all day is just amazing and fascinating to me. I like different times in different parts of the garden. It changes so much with the changing light. I’m glad you liked the photo. Purely lucky timing on my part… πŸ™‚
      Thanks for your visit,
